Raf Simons was the artistic director of the Jil Sander fashion house between 2005 and 2012, which under Simons' leadership became known for its vital sophisticated modernism.
Simons is a passionate collector of contemporary art and modern design. His aesthetic is often inspired by his admiration for art and he regularly engages in interdisciplinary collaborations.
In 2012, he was appointed Creative Director of Dior Women, a position he held until the end of 2015. During his time as Chief Creative Officer of American fashion brand Calvin Klein from 2016 to 2018, he has been named Designer of the Year in 2017 for both his men's and women's collections and for his women's collection in 2018. Since April 2020, Raf Simons joined the Prada brand as Co-Creative Director, in collaboration with Miuccia Prada.
